Besan Ke Laddoo(Garbanzo Bean Flour Sweet Balls)

Besan Ke Laddoo(Garbanzo Bean Flour Sweet Balls)

Besan Ke Laddoo is one of the most sought after sweets in India. When people go to temples they take some sweets for God and this is the trusted favorite of all. Some people include fancy ingredients like Mawa(Khoya) and dry fruit and nuts but I prefer to make it plain. One thing I came across recently was that if you add Melon Seeds(Charmagaz) redily available in the market to make these Laddoos they give them an unusual yummy taste. Also I add the seeds of Black Cardamom(Badi Elaichi). These two combine to make this Laddoo really fit for Gods!

Normally Ghee is used to make these delicious Laddoos but I use refined oil like sunflower and Canola for normal days which does not have a strong aroma .Blend of oils can also be used but make sure of the aroma bit.

But on auspicious days its Ghee and no excuses!

Slide1 (2)

Preparation Time – 30 minutes

Makes – 15 Laddoos

INGREDIENTS

2 cups Gram Flour/Garbanzo Bean Flour(Besan)

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

2 Black Cardamoms(Badi Elaichi) – deseeded

1/4 cup Melon Seeds

1 cup Ghee/refined oil

METHOD

In a non-stick pan heat 3/4 cup  Ghee/Refined Oil on very low heat.Add the Gram Flour when it is not very hot but heated up sufficiently say after 2 minutes.Stir on low heat till the flour is nicely browned and a lovely aroma emanates.Empty this on a clean cool plate or bowl and allow it to cool till you can handle the flour with your hands.

Add the powdered sugar to the flour along with the black cardamom and melon seeds.Mix well. Now dribble a little of the 1/4 cup oil on the side of the bowl or plate and make laddoos while the mixture is still a little warm.Take a fistful of the flour-sugar mixture and with the help of the oil, form into balls.Keep these balls on a separate plate.Be careful at this stage as the laddoos will be delicate and prone to break very fast.

Let the laddoos cool and store them in airtight containers.
