Salted Sattu Refresher

Salted Sattu Refresher

Refreshers can be made only from fruits or vegetables!Right?Wrong!Lentils can also contribute in cooling the body like this wonderful elixir. This is made from Sattu – a readymade powder of roasted lentils which is very easily available in the market. This recipe is inspired from Nisha Madhulika’s amazing blog and I just wish to thank her for the recipe which had my family fall in love with this amazing refresher!

This drink originated in Bihar. The combined states of Uttar Pradesh,Delhi and Bihar have blazing hot summers with temperatures exceeding 45 degrees C as a result of which these cooling drinks were invented to cool the body and mind. The best part is that this lovely drink can also be given to a person suffering from heat exhaustion or heat stroke or whose body gets heated up very fast.

During fasts like Navratri, this drink can be prepared with Rock Salt(Sendha Namak) to cool the senses!
