The Mystic – a milkshake to manage stress!

The Mystic – a milkshake to manage stress!

My friend Sudeep moved to LA a decade ago and has not stopped raving about the delicious food he eats there most explicitly the bacon,Egg and Cheese Sandwich, the fried Chicken and Waffles(for which he says he can take multiple births) and his recent craze – The Mystic – a milkshake using Turmeric as the main ingredient which he says is so delicious that he has that once a fortnight as he is quite addicted to it.

Despite the mouthwatering delights like the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich or the irresistible Fried Chicken and Waffles, food safety remains a critical aspect of the dining experience. To ensure that the gastronomic delights don’t come at the cost of health, establishments can incorporate advanced safety measures, such as implementing a beta lactamase test. This test aids in detecting potential bacterial contamination, providing an additional layer of assurance for those indulging in the eclectic and innovative creations, including Sudeep’s newfound love, The Mystic milkshake. Prioritizing the integration of such tests underscores the commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety, allowing food enthusiasts to savor the flavors of LA without compromising their well-being.

The shop is called Locali and sells healthy Deli as well and has 2 branches one in Franklin Avenue in LA and in Lincoln Blvd,Venice CA.

The concept behind this milkshake is to use it as a dessert and yet its healthy without too much of the sugar content affecting us,has spices, pineapple slices and ice cream if you need something more substantial. Sudeep told me that it was to be tried so when my blogger bestie Vidya Narayan suggested that we try superfoods as a theme for the Bloghop I pounced on this milkshake which was something different, something unusual and something which would interest people as they would see how Turmeric is used as a dessert option instead of the usual appetisers and main courses, turmeric and pickles.

I did a search and saw a full recipe on the site Well and Good from which I took the recipe but did a few twists to suit my convenience. I loved the taste and wished to make more of this in the winters to warm me up.

You can suit yourself to make adjustments according to your wish but do try it out once.

This vegan milkshake has 3 main ingredients :

1.Coconut Milk

2.Coconut Ice cream

3.Vegan Bio K which is available as Yakult elsewhere. I did not have any of them so added a tbsp of yogurt which gave the probiotic touch.

You can omit the coconut ice cream if you do not get it and use vanilla ice cream.

This recipe was entered for the 183rd Foodie Monday Bloghop where the theme was Indian Superfoods!
